Hello guys (: Long time no post.

I'm here to lift this moldy blog out of the humus. Actually, we ain't that bad. If you visit 06 or 07s78-ADE's blogs, you'd find some comfort in the sense that, if our blog is dead, theirs is fossilized.

Anyway I've been pondering over my uni course dilemma for almost a whole month now, and still I can't decide which course to take. :/ Sports Sci.ence and Mangeme.nt at NTU, or Architecture at NUS.. rarr. It's simply a tussle between pragmatism and passion, and so far neither side is winning. The next few days would be mental warfare for me until I can force a decision out of myself by 1 June. Any thoughts or opinions anyone? hahah.

Anyway to revive this blog, I dug out some stuffs from my ancient blog. Could help refresh some of the dreadful/enjoyable memories/memorized information. hahaha.

Hey zongyi, who gave you the right to nominate me, what the heck is maternity-matters liason anyway. I sincerely apologize, but having worked with terms like GC liason, helicopter liason, soc liason while involved in the efforts to capture mr selamat, I don't know any other sort of liasons anymore.

Anyway back to the nomination, you don't have the right to nominate me, its not in the constitution, its not a sovereignty thing, nor is it representative of the people nor is it an inalienable, indisputable and indestructible right that you are born with. I don't know what i'm saying anymore. You can ask me to be Nobuta liason or Proposal Daisakusen liason and organize mass screening at David's house. I'll do it if you ask me nicely, I might even do it if you don't ask me nicely, or for that matter i'll do it even if you don't ask me at all. But what the heck is maternity-matters liason. I'll organize a hospital visit for you if you ever get pregnant though, i think it'll be quite a sight.

our class blog is actually alive! how can i not join in the fun and make some noise over here? here're some photos of familiar faces that (hopefully..) all of you have been missing dearly! =P

i met up with vincent some time in october! he's still the same, as kiddy-looking and crappy as ever! in the backdrop is the london eye and big ben! you know the new national day song, the kit chan one? there's this line about river thames and the big ben.. everytime i go past river thames/big ben i'll get reminded of home!

then in november, i ponned one day of school to go to cambridge! i got dragged there by dear jinbao, supposedly to watch her sing. but my coach got delayed and i didn't even catch her performance. -.- btw, cam is a really boring place! next time if you ever think of visiting cambridge, think twice. come to london instead ok! hahaha. thank goodness for limin who brought me around those couple of days i was there, cos 1)jin bao was too busy for me and 2)there is absolutely nothing to do in cam at all! but of course meeting all the 78ers in cambridge made up for everything! :)

here is our stef! i managed to catch her for a couple of seconds in cambridge. i got to meet her once in london too, together with our 78 seniors xizhen and jinfeng! and stef is still as cool as ever! she comes and goes as swift as the wind la. haha i shall try to catch hold of her and the rest again sometime soon! all of them are always so busy..

i just came back from school! i had a 4hour long practical today. i literally did the experiment till the sun set. it was some microbiology lab session, supposed to count colonies of bacteria (it can go up to a few hundreds!), prepare slides, draw cells.. zzz. so tiring. hope everyone is okay, so sad that i didn't get to celebrate the 07-08 moment with 78! i was counting down at the big ben and watching pathetic little sparks light up an ultra foggy night sky..

i think we've nt been meeting up frequently man, kinda wondering what everyone's doing. well i'll start the ball rolling by describing my ns life XD

anyway i'm currently at hillview camp in bukit panjang, super near chuan yuan's house (while hes at khatib camp which is soooooo near my home - shld swap with me man). my camp is super near bioni's camp which is bukit panjang camp housing 5SIR. well i book out everyday as part of officership privilege in return for the immense workload we do ha, so anyone of you guys nights out can jio me go dinner or play some pool/lan outside, or any gals who wanna get a good fright seeing my fearsome face feel free to apply for an early halloween experience. jk my self-esteem not so bad if not i won't be doing this kinda shit.

feel that i'm gradually getting outta touch with all e peeps out there alr, like fukan whom i keep having this feeling he's in china when he's really just in nus; like wenqi who is forever busy on msn; weixuan who puts self-drawn kawaii manga characters in his display pic; zongyi who hardly appears online lately in great contrast to jc days before he had jilyn ;); limin who's in UK with his funky and funny crappy personal msges like: I'M SIMPLE, SOMETIMES NAIVE. which i found it very very hard to grasp; like kimberle who always seem to have suggestive stuff in her nickname but actually having a rather hard time over there in uk (lighten up kimmy don't indulge in emo-ness and good luck for exams!); like grace/faithgrace/gracefaith/griffon/faith whom i was starting to forget which one is her real name; like zeying who seems to be rather stressed lately over medicine (you can do it one laaaaaa); like cihan who seems to have endless projects going on *thanks for wasting time and money goin' to my comms ball :D though i think zeying more poor thing cuz she was timo's date*; like pamera whose ambition appears to be a camera; like delin who recently smsed me a 5-sms long msg after our bball rendezvous at amk and who's into business and earning quite a sum; guangfeng, who seemed to have been MIA since before alevels ended; like faqeehah who has (i think) one of the most provocative email addresses ever; and stef our very own 78 president scholar who's probably bagging top grades in cambridge.

hello 78! thank you to all who came down to the airport to send me off on friday! :) london's a great place to be in. the weather here is a little cranky though. rains without warning, stops raining without warning, and the sun can just pop out without warning too. im the only singaporean staying at my hall, and it's quite far away from school, but i get to walk through this beautiful park called hyde park on my way to imperial so it's not that bad. ive been meeting many people of so many nationalities it's really eye-opening. and everyone seems to think im from china! hahaha. will blog more when im free! i just had dinner so very full and sleepy now. hope the girls are having fun in school and the guys are, erm, surviving ns! :D keep in touch and i miss everyone!

I still remember the day when pamela first came into our class. She immediately attracted the attention of many people, including a few significant ones. She was carrying her trademark smile on her face, you cannot imagine her without her smile. She mixed in the class almost instantly and soon became our assistant ctrep after zeying. Do you still recall the days just before she came in, everyone was like speculating who is the new girl coming over to our class. And i am glad its her, more than glad to know she is pamela foo, a small little yam bao to make our 05S78 so complete. The last piece of our magnificent puzzle i would say.

Many more of our class will be leaving us, steph, kim, chieh being the next few. And more so when the guys finish ns. To pursue our dreams, to fufil our ambitions, to experience life overseas. Even after all these partings, will our class still rmb each other? still be there for each other. Some may stay overseas permanently, some may come back. All of us would be in our good old 30s by then. With our own careers, and possibly families. I really do hope that till then, perhaps we can still organise an outing and everyone would be there. its a hope i have and i hope to achieve. As i saw pam leave, i asked myself, what more can i do for the class...

yikes, as the founder of this place i feel rather sadddd, but i myself hadn't updated this thing for a year or so xD

78 army dudes finally popped after an arduous 3mths (well mine is not so), and yes!!!! a 12 day break awaits us! MUAHAHAHAHA!

On a day that seems like any normal day any other classes always have, 05S78 is going through sth else...

It all began normally with S78 ppl heading for lessons...

and kim still posing at the camera when we are actually taking the yellow rubbish bin behind..

Delin still asking TYS qns, nope, he is not posing for the camera, he is practising his pose to ask Chemistry TYS qn 2 later...

the guys still posing at the steps whenever they can even though the only ppl who take notice are the cleaners at the Zen Garden, who took notice just because they needa clean the steps again...

All of a sudden, the legendary WQ has come, we call her THE WQ, once again, she has compressed her prey into her favourite cake-like shape and consuming it with utmost satisfaction, notice the small guy trying to escape, no, it's not camera effects, she is this big.(or mb the guy is small)

S78 guys still posing for no reason, not realising the danger approaching...

A distant roar got 05S78's attention, almost immediately, all of them ran to the safest shelter they could ever find--LT2.

Time to put down your books and pick up your spirit of conviviality as we look forward to not national day but the 7th of 8 which i don't know who marked as the 78 birthday. A day where we can foster class spirit and nurture a sense of belonging and promote unity as a class. Fluff bluff and nonsense aside, really got class birthday ah? I wouldn't mind one. We can go to beach play touch rugby, den captains ball followed by basketball. This post is just to serve as a reminder to those people who came out with the idea of class birthday so that they can start cranking their brains for a plan.

Traditionally we always have arnd 7-8 people turning up, so perhaps we can prove trends wrong. But den realistically speaking everyone's going to mug so wouldn't know what to expect.

Meeting Place: Tampines MRT Control Station

Activity: Go UBIN cycle.
There also have beach, can have beach activities if you want. But pls settle that on your own. :)

Just tell me if you want or don't want lunch, and also tell me the time you can meet us if you cannot meet us at 1. Please note that the ferry we are taking over to ubin carries a maximum of 20 people, and that it must be all filled before it takes off to ubin. So best is we all gather together and go to ubin together. Yup! Don't worry about bad weather, we shall just decide what to do on that day if the weather is really bad.

FOR THOSE IN NEED OF HELP TO PASS NAPFA STATIONS
( if you have no time to finish reading this whole chunk skip to summary at bottom)

Hello, I'm here as your retired PE rep. I just thought i should provide some tips for the upcoming Napfa. It only just struck me that it is critically impt for guys, esp for the more athletically challenged, if not you go enjoy ur pre-NS extra training. If i not wrong if u need at least silver.

ive keep it succinct with layman so its understandable. Minimal theories, either you trust me or not. Im product of what i practice and i do know what i am talking about.

Here's disclaimer.These are what i think work, my theories n deductions. If you think i'm wrong just reject my suggestions, if you have skepticisms just keep it to yourself i dont want to hear them.
Note that these are for super short term goals, could be potentially injury causing.
Not much injury-prevention practices cos u dont really need it, and i doubt you'd overwork yourself.

These are meant to help you pass pass napfa, not to ace it. If you can already get silver den dont bother reading dis not performance orientated. Anw u can't really achieve much with such little time left. Hope these crashcourses would help u =) Im trying to take into account your mugger lifestyles.

This is created assuming you are aiming to pass by first attempt, if you're aiming for second attempt den you've probably got about a month more which is quite alot. If i got time i see how i can help. Also assuming you do run. You need to! Don't complain no time haha, it's all about your prioritization. 3rd assumption is that you wld slack some. Also assuming you dont isolate the exercise they are integrated into one already to save you time.

Napfa stations:
1. Sit and reach
2. standing broad jump
3. shuttle run
4. pullups
5. situps
6. 2.4 run

1.sit and reach
Static stretches would suffice. Napfa only requires you stretch your posterior chain so all u need is to stretch in the forward direction(screw the rest). Stretching only works if you do it often, and are detrimental instead if u do it once in bluemoon. For flexibility, you hav to stretch till it hurts, it's the only way. Nothing to teach i just tell u precautions.

Watch for pain in the back. Don't stretch standing up (legs open or not) and jerking your hands down, dont ever jerk. Don't stretch napfa style with your arms reaching forward straining to touch toes, dont know why they do that but its bad, dont grab your feet or try to pull yourself down, grab your thighs instead or get someone to push you down, its not about touching toes.

i recommend: 3 stretches, left right and both. 30sec Minimum per stretch. For left/right stretch e other leg shld be bent in front of u not behind. Dont force too much every time u stretch, rather do more times. Ask me for help. Stretching before and after running. Before - stretching shldnt hurt. After - stretch til it strains. Before stretching- do light running eg 400m around track. I recommend passive stretching where possible, ie get your friend to help push you down.

2. Standing broad jump.
Not possible within this time frame, but jus giv it a shot. Gah very hard to teach. 5 components to plyometrics, only 3 are achievable now. i suggest: Learn technique, i can teach u mine, works for me.Otherwise find a technique that can let you jump furthest. Basic rule- best way to improve something (to a certain level) is to do it.For now just do what mr tan asked us to do last time after runs. Do same maybe 3x10jumps, but do only after you've recovered from the run and feel fresh again. Go gym if u want but id say no point

Ensure MUCH rest between run/each jumpset. Must not feel fatigue before starting each set. Jump as hard as u can for each jump. Don't spend too much time with legs on the ground between each jump. Running will indirectly help your jumping. This is minimal already i know u sure no time.

3.shuttle run
Nobody fail right?

4.pullups
get ppl to assist you, i am not very sure how to train. Just keep doing. I would highly recommend gym-assisted-machines. Make sure you rest well after each session. If muscle aches when you move, u've overloaded, cut all pullup related exercise take passive rest (total rest) and resume when ache has subside. Applies to every muscle group. If you do gym-assisted-pullup machines pick a weight which you can do 6reps with (shld struggle to complete the last repetition). Repeat for as many times possible, increase assisting weight if you cant complete 6, every set must have 6. Dont rest between sets. Do till u die out, or till u get bored. this actually kills two birds with one stone. shld work very good

5. situps
i dont think anyone has problems with situps. Do 2x20 crunches after running and jumping. Indirectly helps your jump.

6. 2.4
Finally, the run. If im not wrong you need what 13 minutes to pass right? Here's e basic rule for short distance running. If you're training for 2.4, run 2 x 2.4=4.8~5km for training. Run at constant pace. After you run you have to be panting. at the last 100-150m or so do an all out sprint. This isnt a proper training method, its not here not there but i do this for last minute. For those who can run already and are reading this u can do this too, but it wld only help you to a certain level.

General things:
1. Those who need to lose weight please do so =). Cut down on unnecessary diet ONLY.
2. try to pick fish over other meat.
3. Eat well BEFORE and after workout. U need energy to last and make your workout work
4. KEEP WELL HYDRATED you wont know how important it is.
5. Get adequate sleep. Define adequate = u wake up refreshed. I dont know why but from personal experience it is just damn important. Dont need wake up early, pe is late body would be functioning optimally already. Which reminds me:
6. 5-7 is the best time for running training- temperature/biological factors.

7. (IMPORTANT), don't stop running/start walking/sitdown right after a run. As tired and nauseous you may be, u have to keep jogging. Nobody really cares so i thought i better explain it's importance, this especially applies to people who have LOW BLOOD PRESSURE, esp after e incidence of some1 falling down.

When you run your heart pumps blood around to the body. However due to the nature of running. The rhythmic contractions of your skeletal muscles does act as a secondary pump for your heart. When you suddenly come to a standstill, secondary pump disabled, blood pressure suddenly drops. No blood go to head ur actually in danger of fainting. If u dont faint u feel bad and turn pale. As simple as this.

SUMMARIZED PROGRAMME.
Training.

Stretching - stretch 3 or more times a day everyday. Do the sit down forward stretch. Stretching shld hurt. Get someone help push u if possible
Running - do a warmup 400m light run, stretch (shldnt hurt that much). Run about 5km. Dash e last 100m or so. Jog on the spot. Stop and rest, when light panting left, do 20pushups 2x20crunches 20spring jumps. Rest more and do Mr Tan's jumps 3x10. Rest about 5 minutes between each jumpset. Stretch (painful version). Dont cramp in anymore pullups. Do pullups as separate component
Pulllups - do with friend assist, as many as possible. Go gym if possible 6 repetitions per set as many sets as possible. Increase assist weight after each set if u cant maintain 6.

Stop all training 3 days before napfa.

Pre-napfa preparations:

Sleep early
eat good breakfast
No lunch <3.5hrs>
Keep drinking water whole day, no more large quantities of water(ie a bottle drink) <2hrs>
light stretching if you want

Sometimes i wonder how my enzymes get activated, i guess they are those u use in PCR, those that live in the lakes, thermo something one... hahas, okies, i haven't done this for quite a while, so i need some time to warm up k...

hahas, so i suddenly recall that many a times, i try to imitate a close friend of mine, u know, scold bad words, shake leg, a little of hokkien, with tattoos and everything. I think u all know him too! well, let me introduce, he is gangster, a close species of my kind. We all belong to this little family called the -ster. U know, like prankster, monster, minister, webster, trickster, molester and oh yar, one of my very best friends! FRIENDSTER! phew that took quite a while, plus some searching up of words from the longman dictionary of comtemporary english, maybe china would want to come up with a shortwoman encyclopedia of conpermanent chinese. hmmm, i guess it would sell quote well, cos longman's blue in colour and shortwoman should be red. Oh, and it saes here, the complete guide to written english and spoken english. Shortwoman will be the incomplete scout to drawn chinese and acted chinese. oh no, wait, must express the answer this way then can get full marks, le tme try again ah. That day was going out with lysia david and steffi to watch huo yan jia! it was super nice, with all the knuckle cracking sound, woohoo... but i had a very big discovery that dae! Do you know that the singapore government actually promotes the arts, as in yar the artistic art? as in other then the esplanade which is like the headquarters, they have branches everywhere, even at ps! they have art rooms, people queuing up to enter these rooms somemore. they really are a hit! i also noticed that they have names like ATM or DBS, dun realli know what they mean, Art To Man? or Da Binci Showroom? so kewl rites? must really thank the government for investing so much money. And guess what are these art rooms good at, or perhaps the people at the art rooms, they are supersuper good and i mean real good, better then micheangelo or picasso, they draw money! lots of them! they even have this card, sort of like record card, everytime u draw, u will score points, but its the lesser the better kind of score. So the more u draw the less points u are left with! Its so super high tech, thank you government for emphasizing so much on our artistic expressions!

well, back to the headquarters at esplanade, they should build sometime similar again, again, like lemonade or something, then shape of two halves of a lemon. Then u have two headquarters!, then u can boast to the world, hey(in a typical russel peters way), singapore has a headhalf!Oh yar, and in secondary school, i held the post of the quartermaster, now in HC band, gort two quartermasters! But do u know why two quartermasters dun make a halfmaster? because, u have two masters so must be more powerful! Two quartermasters equals to halfdictator. Now, it sounds weird then again, why on earth would u have a half dictator? Where gort teacher so evil, ask u do dictation then only read out half only. Nah, i think teachers aren't that evil, half dictators aren't good names for them, hmm, my chinese teacher used to dictate the whole passage, so maybe can call her a dictator! wooo, sounds really cool now.

Hello. Our junior blog's more active then our stagnant one, but that's only normal cause their enthuness hasnt worn off yet. which is a good thing. I don't think anyone would have any anouncements or stuff to post so i'd do my part in a bid to liven up the blog =)

Here's what i have to say in a nutshell:

Study hard..but dont neglect your fitness too!

The study part is redundant, its for me to read. But yeah e second part applies to most of y'all! Well excluding those sportsmen such as huiwen wenqi timothy (zongyi), and those enthu-d (good!) people such as andy tingfu grace (zeying's running now as well!), and those crippled ones such as chieh hwee; the rest of you guys girls and inbetweens should start running too!

Here's some reasons why:
1. Cross country is coming up. Its a mass run... not a mass WALk! Not really important though just run if you want to.. Macritchie is nice and scenic just enjoy the route. If you don't know this year's x-country is on the 15th of February
2. Here's the important one: NAPFA 2.4 run. 'nuff said.
3. Here's most important for some..perhaps an incentive for you to start running. Prom Night's this year! Just a reminder.. lol. Trust me ppl often regret not starting earlier, its a phenomenon that occurs everyyear. So im just here to remind you early =) Cos when exams draw nearer.... you know the rest
4. An elaboration for point 2. IF you happen to fail napfa, you'd have to enter NS earlier. For this year's batch they had to go in on december the 19th. So sad to go in just few weeks after your A's have ended. Start training up for your weak stations man!

Thank you everyone for making the effort to come join us at a ulu corner in the park opposite school. Especially for those who had canoe training like tim wenqi and huiwen! And the Old 78ers, from 02S78 lehz, cannot believe it, maybe next time like what i said, we can have lik 01S78 to 10S78. Keep the 78 spirit alive man! Not forgetting the juniors, u people were great!

We are lucky, to be able to meet up with 2[TWO] "han liu" which is some abnormal cold weather...so it is quite cold here...around 10 degrees...nice la...wear 4 clothes...run 4 rounds also no sweat, hehe :) the sch is great.. yinli's house is far from sch but great...lives in the mid of a mountain which is comfy and nice... parents are nice too :) bought some stuff, haven't spend much yet only 4k NT (1 sing = 20 NT) yar...nice weather, i like it!!! Bernard should be here... it is just great!! i guarantee you will not sweat a single drop!! Oh, and cheng yuan uniform really rocks...darn cool!!

I hope someone will read this real soon. I think the next time i use com would be quite some days later, enjoy the rest of hols...gotta go...PE is up next :) Badminton.

okay anyway i was reading ur blog then i suddenly realised that i still remember ur login name and password (for a good reason too) so i decided to blog. anyway im in germany and enjoying life. pace of life is sloww. it is a welcome change, trust me. the sky gets dark at 5:30 and pple start going home and everything stops moving. and then pple enjoy e night together with the family. now, isnt that nice? :D

anyways i am staying alone, so i hafta cook my own dinner. bahh. i shd clarify tho, cooking is fun but doing dishes is not :( but no choice hafta go thru the whole process cos otherwise i'd nvr get chinese food - not real chinese food, and nothing i can afford. its gd fun tho, buying groceries, thinking abt what to eat. its nice to stay alone too, can do things u like at ur own schedule, dun hafta bother abt other pple. :)

glad that pw is over! and that u all enjoyed it a little bit. i actually did too, with my generally slack but last minute hardworking grp :P hahaha i remember spending whole sundays at my/someone-else's house doing pw. fabricating stuff like minutes, highlighting numerous articles and annotating :P hahaha

what are ur plans for dec hols? tell me :D
